  • Isadora Duncan Establishes Her Dance School in the U.S.

    Isadora sought to teach the youth a more natural way of leaning. This approach was then utilized in dance education. Through the work in her school she set groundwork for the future of dance and education.
  • Margaret Newell H'Doubler Created the First Dance Major at the University of Wisconsin

    This was the first dance training within a university setting. This set in motion dance as a serious area of study in regards to education.
  • Founding of The Laban Guild for Movement and Dance

    Laban fused dance with scientific notation allowing a cross between two fields of study. Laban played an important role in how dance is taught.
  • Desegragation in Schools

    This allowed for a mix of cutures and expanding horizons. This in turn called for a more diverse apporoach to teaching in the classroom.
  • Elementary Secondary Education Act

    Dance education proffited from this act allowing more funding to this area of education. With more funding ame more access for children to be introduced to movement in the classroom.
  • National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities Established

    There was more intrest in the arts and education then there had been in the past. This lead to more discussion of the place of the arts in education.
  • Equal Educational Oppurtunity Act

    Less emphasis in dance rather than athletics becase the intergration of men and womens P.E. programs.
  • Educate America Act

    Embraced the arts more opely in education in America, this included dance in the area of art. More funding was given to the arts in school at the time.
  • Creation of NDEO

    It is now the leader in dance in education, leading the way in setting stadards and disscuion of dance education on a national level.
  • No Child Left Behind Program Established

    More focus on testing and grades led to less talk about the arts. This negativley affected dance education at the time.
