  • 7 months

    starts making coherent sounds
  • 8-12 months

    Infant starts using gestures to convey what he/she wants
  • 2 months

    Infants coo and make vowel sounds
  • 12 months

    Talking includes what childrens surrounding community sounds like can talk faster and comprehend faster and can sometimes say words correctly
  • 18-24 months

    Spoken vocabulary expands vastly to 250 words or so and can now combine words
  • Age 3

    Can under stand 3 step instructions
  • Age 4

    can say there name and can speak in sentences with 5-6 words, can sing songs and tell stories.
  • age 5

    Knows the alphabet, can count to ten, can understand conversations and contribute to them,
  • ages 6-7

    Can understand commands with three separate instructions, understands the concepts of numbers, can explain objects and there use, can repeat three numbers backwards, can read age appropriate material.
  • Age 8-7

    Can Count backwards, can name months and days of week in order, knows the date
  • 10-12

    can read and write pretty well, likes talking to others, may have a best friend at this time.
