    'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep' is many peoples opinion: The birth of Cyberpunk as a genre or at least the antecedent to the cyberpunk genre
    The book is set in a post-apocalyptic near future and is said to be the inspiration for a later movie 'Blade Runner'. It features man-made creations gone astray and habitance on other planets, which fits into the definition of Cyberpunk: a subculture of science fiction and dealing with future urban societies dominated by computer technology.

    Blade runner"Capturing the quintessence of the cyberpunk aesthetic", this film is said to be the first of cyberpunk films. Cyberpunk began as a literary genre until the release of this film which sparked the start of Cyberpunk as a film genre.
    Some say the film can not be classed as cyberpunk but there are a number of defining cyberpunk themes found in the film that say otherwise.
