    Mercantilism is an ecomomic theory that was practiced in the colonies in America. The colonies had a favorable balance of trade, meaning the value of their imports was greater then the value of their exports. This resulted in very high trade tariffs, angering the colonists, which helped lead to the American Revolution.

    Salutory neglect was a policy that did not enforce very many parlimentary laws in the colonies. This meant there was very leniant enforcement of laws in the colonies. This angered many colonists, leading to the American Revolution.

    The French and Indian war was a conflict between the British and the French. The war was fought over land. The land gains and losses as well as loss of life helped contribute to the Revolution.

    The Royal Proclomation of 1763 was a proclomation by King George that stated the English could not settle beyond a line drawn near the Appalachian Mountains. This angered many colonists, helping contribute to the American Revolution.

    The Declaratory Act was an act made by British Parliment that repealed the Stamp Acts made the previous year. This actually helped quell revolution.

    The Townshend Acts were a very controversial set of laws passed by British Parliment. They raised taxes to increase the salaries of governors and judges so they would stay loyal to Britian. This angered the colonists greatly.

    The Boston Massacre was an event where British soldiers shot and killed four protesting colonists in Boston, which sparked outrage in the colonies.

    The Tea Act was a law passed by British Parliment which made very high taxes on tea imports to the colonies. This pushed the Boston Tea Party, which almost is at the point of sparking rebellion.

    The Boston Tea Party was an event where colonists dressed up like Native Americans, and bored thousands of dollars worth of British tea imported to the colonies overboard. This angered the British extremely, and caused them to clamp down their control.

    The Intolerable Acts was the name that the colonists gave to a series of laws passed by British Parliement. This angered most colonists and incited talk of revolution.

    The First Continental Congress was a group of represenatives from 12 colonies (all but Georgia) who gathered to discuss what action should be taken in response to the Intolerable Acts.

    Battles Of Lexington and Concord
    These two battles were the first battles fought in the Revolutionary War. The first shot was known as The Shot Heard Around The World, and these battles helped kickstart the rest of the war.

    This congress was a group of the same delegates as the first congress, however this congress met strictly to support and discuss the war, as warfare and skirmishes between the British and the colonies had already started.

    Common Sense was a pamphlet written by a patriot named Thomas Paine, urging people to support the colonies bid for freedom. Obviously, a lot of people listened to this pamphlet and it helped convert a lot of people to the cause.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence was a formal document signed by many in which it stated that the colonies were now Independant from Great Britain. This angered Britain and really got the war going.

    End of the Revolution
    The end of the Revolutionary War came in 1781 when England cut their losses and let the American colonies become Independant. The was is now over, and the 13 colonies have now become states in the United States of America.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris was the treaty that official ended all warfare regarding the independance of the colonies, because even though the war was over, battles still went on as it was hard for word to get around back in those days. This treaty recognized America as its on country and stopped all the bloodshed.
