On top of being a musical artist, Justin also became a visual artist, having two of his later albums, in Blue October, featuring with his art as their covers. Justin has also sold some of his art to fans in the past few years.

Following a breakup with his ex-girlfriend Amanda, Justin had a mental breakdown, and had to be admitted to a mental institution. He later used the Moniker 5591 as his guitar, 5591 being his patient number at the institute.

Writing in his first band, Justin will leave it later in the year of 1995. He joins this band at the age of 13 years. He starts Blue October the year he leaves the "Last Wish".

Their second newest album "Foiled" Is what really brought the band to fame. On February 2007, the album was certified Platinum, and thought to be one of the best rock albums of our century. "Hate Me" was thought to be one of their best songs from the album, and received much attention from the public. It was also met with great reviews:
