    World Wide Web is born
    In 1990, a British engineer named Tim Berners-Lee introduced to us, the world wide web, ie the internet we know and love today. Before he introduced this, all the interconnected computers were limited to communicate between institutions such as government agencies and research institutions.

    SMS Text Messages
    Cell phones have been around since the 70's, but not until 1992 was the first SMS text sent by a cell phone. It read "Merry Christmas" and brought a very huge change to our world of communicating. A developer Neil Papworth sent that message to Richard Jarvis at Vodafone. In a few more years, phones that could send those messages would be on the market for the public.

    In 1992, the first song was encoded into an MP3, "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega. German engineer Karlheinz Brandenburg is often called "father of mp3" as this was his doing. They would eventually be playable on all our devices and is now the main way we listen to our music!

    In 1993, the two consumer electronic companies, Sony and Phillips, joined forces to create the multimedia compact disk, which evolved through other companies competition and eventual collaboration into DVD's we know and love today! This brought a new wave of portable entertainment for us all.

    Playstation Joins The Game!
    December 3rd, 1994, Sony released the first Playstation game console in Japan. It released in the US in September 1995 and was an instant hit, said to be their biggest device since the walkman. Gaming consoles are in almost every household around the world these days!
