    Spending almost 30 years in prison, Mandela was 77 years old when he was relesed.

  • Appeal

    Aparthied was appealed in 1991.

  • Nelson Mandela

    Nelson Mandela was elected president.

  • New Constitution

    The new South African constituition was adopted in May of 1996.
