Russian Communist Revolution
In both the Russian Communist Revolution and the Cold War they were fighting against the soviet Union. In the Russian Communist Revolution they tried to revolt against the soviet union but it failed and that led to the rise of the soviets. Although in the cold war the soviets did not win it was still a hard battle against their rise to power. -
Treaty of Versailles
After World War 2 and the Treaty of Versailles was established there became a lot of tension between the Eastern Bloc and the Western Bloc. This is where some of the tension came from when the cold war started. -
League of Nations
The League of Nations is an international organization that was used to solve international problems. This is a lot like NATO which was established during the cold war along with the Warsaw pact to try fix the problems of the cold war. -
Apollo 11
Apollo 11 was part of the space race against the United States and the Soviet Union just like the cold war was. Each nation wanted to be more technologically more advanced than the other and by begin successful in Apollo 11 the United States beat the Soviet Union. Some of the tension to create the race came from the cold war when we dominated over the soviets. -
Nuremberg Trials
The Nuremberg Trials were trials after World War 2 against the Nazis were most were found guilty and imprisoned of sentenced to death. The soviet union and the U.S., great Britten, and France all came together for these trials, the U.S and the Soviets actually came together for this after World War 2 despite all their tension. -
Yalta Conference
The Yalta Conference was held during World War 2 discussing how to end the war. This is when all the blame began to fall on Germany and caused tensions with Soviet and the U.S. which will then lead to the cold war. -
NATO created
NATO was created to try and help solve North Atlantic problems. It was created during the cold war and this then lead to the creation of the Warsaw pact by the soviet union to go against the U.S. -

The Chinese Communist Revolution started to try and end communism which is what the U.S. wanted to do also that's why NATO was created. But in the end the communist won this battle. -

The General Assemble is a policy making and representative organ of the UN. This is where many problems with the soviets are dissected and argued upon. This is sort of like NATO but not as closed off. -
Iron Curtain speech
The Iron Curtain is a way to explain the separation between the Soviet bloc and the West. It was a way to show the decline of communism. This made the soviets mad and created more tension, the U.S. just wanted to stop communism like they wanted to stop the soviets in the cold war. -
Baruch Plan
The Baruch Plan was for the international control of atomic weapons. The non-agreement to this plan is what started the arms race against the Soviet Union and the U.S. which leads to the cold war. -

The Truman Doctrine was foreign policy created to go against the Soviet geopolitical expansion that took place during the cold war. -
Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan is when the U.S. aided Europe by giving them $13 billion dollars and having them spend it on U.S. good which benefited both nations. Another reason for this was so Europe wouldn't fall to communism and U.S. looked better than the Soviets. -

The Berlin Airlift took place during the cold war. It was one of the first major crises because the soviets started a blockade against the Western allies. -

Mutual Assured Destruction against each side (Soviets and U.S.) could destroy the other many times. This term was established and used during the cold war. -
Joseph McCarthy Speech
This speech is where Joseph McCarthy said he had a list of names who were communist and he was catching them and punishing them. This was not true, he did this to make people fear communism so the soviets would not be able to spread it. This is another reason for tension between the U.S and soviets. -
Korean War
North Korea invaded South Korea to spread communism but the U.S. came in and backed South Korea so the communist would be unable to take over. This made the communist very angry at the U.S. this caused more anger during the cold war. -

Fidel Castro Proclaims Cuba as Communist which upsets the U.S. because they want to put an end to the spread of communism. This causes more tension and problems which leads to war. -
Building of Berlin Wall begins
The Berlin Wall was built during the cold war to show the separation between the democratic west and the communist east. This caused tension and arguing. -
Bay of Pigs Invasion
This is when the U.S. attempted to come in and stop the communist from invading. This was a huge fail and made the U.S. look weak that's why they were so determined to beat the soviets to prove their strength. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
Cuban Missile Crisis was a 13 day confrontation between the U.S. and the soviet union. This was a reason for the cold war, U.S. thought soviets were going to attack and the soviets were not backing down. -
U.S. sends troops to Vietnam
This is when communism was spreading in Vietnam because of the soviets, so U.S. sent troops in to put an end to it. The tension was still there from the cold war and the U.S. just wanted to end communism. -

Sputnik was the first artificial satellite launched by the soviets which made the U.S. create Apollo 11 to beat the soviets. The U.S. wanted to be more advanced to bring fear to the soviets so they would cause war. -

This was used to try and stop the spread of nuclear weapons and technology. This was a way to try and keep peace from the war. -
Kent State Shootings
This was unarmed college students protesting the Vietnam War which was against U.S. and the soviets. This all goes back to the cold war and the want to stop the spread of communism. -
SALT 1
SALT 1 was to restrain the arms race between the U.S. and soviets. This all goes back to the U.S. and Soviets fighting in the cold war and all the tension left after the war that never ended. -
Fall of Saigon
This is when the Vietnam War fell and the communist take over. This goes back to the cold war when the U.S. and soviet fought and then always were against each other. Soviets continued to spread communism when U.S. continued to stop them. -

Deng Xiaoping was a Chinese leader of the people republic. After he pass, the communist then took over. Soviets wanted to spread communist as much as they could and make U.S. mad from the cold war. -

Pope John Paul II and Reagan shared strong views about anti-communism. The Pope was very against it and was glad when the cold war came to an end. -

SALT 2
SALT 2 was similar to SALT 1 but was the first nuclear arms treaty. It helped discourage the soviets from arming their third-generation. These problems all began in the cold war. -
Soviet invade Afghanistan
This lead to a war that lasted nine years. The soviets and the U.S. still had problems from the cold war and the soviets wanted to spread communism still and the U.S. wouldn't let that happen. -
Fall of the Berlin Wall
The fall of the wall was also the fall of communism in Germany. Since the Soviets were doing all they could to spread communism after the war they attempted to take Germany. It worked for awhile but soon came crumbling down. -
