    Marshall Plan

    The marshall plan was created to the economic recovery of nations after World War II and to reduce the influence of Communist parties within them. The marshall plan was created for 16 European countries including Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, West Germany, and Norway. The marshall plan was created by George Marshall. It was very successful. The western European countries involved experienced a rise in their gross national products of 15 to 25 percent during this period.

    Berlin Blockade/Airlift

    The Soviet Union blocked all the entrances to West Berlin because of that the United States couldn't deliver food, water, and medicine to the citizens of the besieged city. So they decided to use aircraft to fly over the barrier that the Soviet Union created to prevent them from that area. President Harry S. Truman came up with this idea, and the first plane took off from base located in England on June 24, 1948, and the last delivery of food, water, and medicine was on May 12, 1949.

    North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was created by the United States in 1949. The purpose of this organization was to provide collective security against the threat posed by the Soviet Union. In 1949, there were 12 founding members of the organization: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

After the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, every country thought that it was the only way to protect the lives of innocent people from another power's nuclear attack. The American and Soviet nuclear programs took root and grew, and the race for the hydrogen bomb was on.

    The Soviet Union created the warsaw pact. The warsaw pact was created in reaction to the integration of West Germany into NATO in 1955 per the London and Paris Conferences of 1954. Also, it was created for a reason to the Soviet Union take over control over military forces in Central and Eastern Europe.

    Berlin Wall

    The Berlin Wall was created by the German Democratic Republic. The purpose of the creation of this wall was to cut off West Berlin from surrounding East Germany, including East Berlin. Also, it was made to prevent its population from escaping Soviet-controlled East Berlin to West Berlin. The wall was fully in guard by German troops all around. Later on, the Berlin wall was fallen in Berlin on November 9, 1989.
