    The SALT Treaty stood for the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty. The negotiations known as Strategic Arms Limitation Talks began in November 1969 and ended in January 1972, with agreement on two documents: the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty (ABM Treaty) and the Interim Agreement on the Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms.

    Canada vs. U.S.S.R
    It was Team Canada vs. Team U.S.S.R in Hockey. It was a match to test both countries strengths in sports and war. Canada fought back to win the final 3 games of the series to tie with the U.S.S.R. This game happened during the Cold War between free countries and communism. The game was won by Canada and it changed the soviets and the rest of the world’s perspective on Canada and North America itself.

    Trudeau is trying to solve conflicts between any nogociations between North America and Asia. He has travelled to China several times before but this time as Priminister. During the trip he tries to secure access to the Chiniese market on trade with Canada. His meeting included Chairman Mao.

    The U.S and Canadian governments viewed the involvement of being in the war as a way to prevent a communist take over. They were scared it would take over South Vietnam, which then would spread into Asia. The war ended in the mid 70’s. The North Vietnamese attacked by force and Vietnam was reunited as a Communist state.

    Pierre Trudeau Visits Cuba
    Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau went on his historic 3-day visit to Cuba, becoming the first leader of a NATO country to visit Cuba. Castro had recently sent Cuban soldiers to fight a civil war in Angola. As the Americans watched the Prime Minister try to solve for peace and non-conflict meetings. It was a day to remember.
