Truman Doctrine
Basically it was to stop Communism from spreading. Truman want the U.S to support Greece and Turkey with their military. Before Communism got to them. They called it "containment' as in containing Communism and stoping a Soviet expansion. Truman promised to support free people. -
Marshall Plan
It was a plan to rebuild Europe and force back Communism after WW2. All of Europe would have turned Communism if the U.S didn't help. Marshall took the form of fuel, raw materials, goods, loans and food, machinery and advisers. That stopped the spread of Communism. -
Berlin Airlift
The Soviet Union stated staving the people. The Soviets cutted off all road, rail and canal links between West Germany and West Berlin. The the Allies started fly night and day droping food off to feed the people. -
NATO Pact
28 countries from West Europe and North america signed the washington Treaty. It was to protect Allies military and freedom. Their goal was to let all of Europe to be free and have peace. -
Korean War
75,000 soldiers from the North Korean People’s Army went across the 38th parallel. Because of South Korea America entered the war. They feared that this would make a World War 3. 5 million soldiers and cilvilans lost there lifes at the end of the Korean war. -
Vietnam War
It was a long war against the North Vietnam and the South Vietnam. More than 3 million people were killed in the Vietnam war, Americans and cilvilans too. -
Warsaw Pact
It is a treaty between Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Soviet Union. They signed it in Poland. Basically they was going against NATO. By building up a new military. -
Bay of Pigs Invasion
The Bay of pigs was agianst Fidel Castro for overthrowning Fulgencio Batista. They failed and it gave Castro military victory and a permanent symbol of Cuban resistance to American aggression. -
Berlin Wall
This was a way of separating Germany into three zones.They were all controlled by France. It was to seperate East Berlin and West Berlin. At least 136 people died trying to cross the wall. They wanted to get from East to West. Communist shooted people that looked like traitors. They wanted power of the people. -
The Cuban Missile Crisis
This was the event that had ever came closet to a Nuclear war. Americans made a Nuclear bomb, so the Soviet Union wanted to make one too. They both just kept competing with eachother. Soviet Union thought that AMaericans was going to try and attack them with a Nuclear bomb, so they wanted to be prepared for it. -
The end of the Cold War
At the end of cold war they put up the Berlin wall. It as a disagreement between East Berlin and West Berlin.
