First battle of Bull Run
This battle was lead by the confederate leader Pierre Beaureard and the Union leader Irvin McDowell. The Confederates won this battle. The highlights of this battle were that Lincoln sent home his troops and then turned around and asked for 500,000 volunteers to fight for three years. -
Battle Fort Donelson- Fort Henery
This Battle that was fought from Feb. 11-16 was brutal but a good victory for the Union. Ulysses S. Grant made a very bold move agenst the Confederates (John B. Floyd) to take Tennessee. The Union ended up capturing two Confederate citys. -
Battle of Shiloh
Ulysses S. Grant fought all the way to great victory. The Union killed the Confederate's general Albert S. Johnston in this rabid battle. Other then the death of the general the Confederates lost 11,000 men and the Union loses 13,000 men. -
Battle of New Orleans
This battle was a huge milestone for the North.The Union troops won this battle that was lead by David Farragut. Mansfield Lovell and the Confederates lost their most important city. The Union gets one step closer to their goal to split the South in half. -

Robert E. Lee was a threat tot he Union. He was so powerful that he made George B. McClellan and hias troops retreat away from Virginia. -
Second Battle of Bull Run
The unions withdraw from fighting agenst Robert E. Lee. John Pope and the Confederates take the victory iof this hard fought battle. -
Battle of Antietam
This battle, fpought by 23,000 americans ended up in a draw. Neither George B. McClellan nor Robert E. Lee won this last battle. Overall the North won three battle as did the South. ?In this particular battle Lee was forced to retrteat.
