    Sherman's March to the Sea

    During William T. Sherman's march to the sea, he and his troops destroyed property and infrastructure in Georgia. On November 16, he managed to capture the city of Atlanta, and by December 21, he had the port of Savannah.

    On the morning of April 9th, Lee tried to rush the Union troops outside of the courhouse, but failed. Later on in the day, Lee and Grant met at the courthouse to discuss his surrender, and on April 10, Lee gave his farewell address to his troops. Robert E. lee never harbored any hard feelings against Grant after the fact.

    Lincoln is assassinated!
    (Ironically on a Good Friday) Lincoln is assassinated by John Wilkes Booth during a production of Our American Cousin. John Wilkes was one of the many conspirators who planned to not only assasinate Lincoln, but Ulysses S. Grant, William H. Seward, and Geroge Atzerodt.

    When the troops finally caught up to Booth, they tried to make him surrender peacefully, but Booth refused to cooperate. as he tried to make his escape, he was shot in the neck, and died 3 hours later at the age of 26
