    The Kansas-Nebraska enacted popular sovereignty by letting the people in Kansas and Nebraska to vote on whether they would like to allow slavery in their state or not. There ended up being 4 times the votes as there were voters in the states.

    Dred Scott sued for his freedom. His owner took him to a free state and died so Scott took the case to the courts and the courts said he could not sue since he was not a citizen of the USA and they ruled the Missouri compromise unconstitutional.
