Battle of Shiloh

Apr 6, 1862

Ulysses S. Grant defeats Albert sidney Johnston in southwest tennesse confederate had 1,723 deaths and the union had 1,754 deaths.

seven days retreat

Jun 25, 1862

Joe johnston was replaced as the commander of the army of northern virgina.

Battle of Antietam

Sep 17, 1862

The army of Potomac defeated the army of northern virginia resulting in the bloodiest day in American history.

Gettysburg

george meade won the largerst battle of the civil war. The union victory ended lee's belief that a victory would defeat the army of potomac.

Vicksburg Surrender

Jul 4, 1863

Army of mississippi surrendered after a prolonged siege. Then Abarham lincoln found a way he could win the war.

chattanooga

Nov 23, 1863

Lincoln dispatched three of his best generals Grant, William Sherman, and Joseph Hooker. Later grant broke out into the city and drove the conferdate army into georgia.
