Ironclad Warships
The North needed to surround the south to be able to win the war faster. The north had a good navy but they knew they needed to make something a bit better, so they took a normal navy ship and covered it in iron. The south then made an iron ship. They then met on the water, and the battle was indecisive because cannonballs would do no damage to the other ship. The north then hurried and made a bunch of ships out of iron and they eventually surrounded the South. -

He would march through the south and burn down barns and eat all of the food that the south had. City's on occasion would be burned down too. he did not intend for any civilians to die or be injured but it happened sometimes. This was meant to scare them to not join the war.
