He was the first president ever to be assasinated and is still concidered one of the greatest political leaders of all time. He is famous for many of his speaches including his iconic line of "Four score and seven years ago"

    Confederate States VideoShortly after loncoln was elected Soucth Carolina voted to Suceed or leave the union which was quckly followed by Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas who joined together to form the Confederate states of America. North Carolina, Arkansas, Tenessee, Missouri, Kentucky, and Virginia later joined in while the territiory of Arizona was created. This lasted until they lost the Civil war in 1965 when they were forced back into the union.

    He was nominated to be the president of the Confederate states during the Civil war. He failed to get the help of any european countries as well as he was not aware of the economic condition and therefore randomly printed money leading to runaway inflation which ultimatly helped lead to his downfall as he could no longer fund the war effort. The confederate loss of the civil war may be due to his inability to lead them as he was near impossible to get along with.

    The Civil War was a war that took place between the southurn slave states and the northern free states caused by various issues around slavery and laws that were passed favouring the north which made the south angry.

    Battle info. The Confederate states launched a suprise attack on the Union and general Grant. The Confederate army was very successful through thr first day of battle although their leader General Johnston was killed and his 2nd in command decided not to attack the final union position that night. This gave time for reinforcements to come in and the Union entered a Counterattack on the morning of April 7th which was too strong for the Conferderates to hold off and they ultimatly retreated.

    The Union had already battled the two forts protecting the city (Fort Jackson and St. Philip) and therefore were virtually unpposed in the capture of the city. It took several days to actually capture the city as they started on April 25th although the capture of the largest Confederate City was a major turning point in the war. Unlike other Cities captured during the war which were destroyed New Orleans remained untouched.

    VideoThis was the First major battle that was faught on Union land. It was a part of the Maryland Campaign. The Union lead by General McClellan faught against General Lee leading the Confederate army and were successful in causing the Confederate States to retreat meaning the union won the battle. In reality this was a loss for both sides though as more than 22,000 people were dead, injured or missing including more than 3000 reported killed in action.

    Reading of ProclamationThis was a document issued by Presisdent Lincoln saying that all slaves in the Confederate states were now free and that any Able-bodied slave could join the union army and their owners would not be paid. The Document made Lincolns goals of reuniting the Union and Freeing all slaves in the process known. It came into action on the first of January 1863.

Commanded by Colonel Robert Gould Shaw a white man as it was decided all unites had to be commanded by white men they saw a lot of action during the Civil War. They were commissioned just after the emancipation proclimation and it was made up of about 1100 men.

He Co-ordinated the Valley Campaign which gained him the tittle of one of the most gifted tacticle commanders in U.S. History. He served from the begining of the civil war until he weas accidently shot by his own army on May 2nd 1863, he survuved this with loss of one arm although he died of complications due to pnemonia 8 days later.

Almost 8 thousand soldiers were killed in action and more than 30,000 were injured between the two sides. After 3 days of battle which took place from the first to third of july general Lee lead his retreat back to virginia resulting in a Union Victory.

    VideoThis was the final battle in the vicksburg campaign where General Grant was trying to capture the city. His first two attempts failed although on May 25th he decided to beseige the city with few suplies and food they forced the surrender of the Confederate troops on the fouth of july. This Action gave control of the Mississippi river to the Union for the rest of the Civil War.

    Reading of SpeachThis was a speach given by President Lincoln and it is one of the best known speaches in American History starting with the iconic phrase of "Four score and seven years ago." In less than 5 minutes he highlighted the important parts of the Declaration of Independance and said that the Civil war was about finding equality for all citizens using the same values as the United States were formed upon.

It opened in febuary of 1864 and held more than 45,000 prisioners throughout the war. When opened it was 16.5 acres although in june of 1864 it was enlarged to 26.5 acres. almost 13,000 men died in the prision due to scurvy, diarrhea, and dysentery.

    Sherman Burns Atlanta SpeachAtlanta was an important rail and commercial centre to the confederate army. Sherman captured the citry and on september 7th ordered everyone to evacuate as it was going to be burned. After a plea by Father Thomas O'Reilly of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sherman did not burn the city's churches or hospitals. however anything useful to the confederate war effort was destroyed.

It was a very bold operation where he captured the city of Atlanta and the port of Savannah. On his way he destroyed industry and civilian property further damaging the economics of the Confederate States and disrupted transportation networks.
