Battle of Appomattix Courthouse was one of the last battles of the war before the Confederacy surrendered. It was the final battle of General Lee's army before he surrendered.

While attending a play at Ford's Theatre, Lincoln was shot in the head by John Wilkes Booth. Booth himself was an actor. Apparently it was noticed by Rathbone that Booth had entered the box but he did not react until after Lincoln had been shot.
