    1st Battle at Bull Run
    This was the first major battle in the war, which ended disastrously for the Union soldiers. This is how general Thomas J. Jackson got the nickname "Stonewall" Jackson. The Confederate army lead by Jackson counterattacked a northen assault. They named the cannons they used at battle after biblical people, stating " they spoke a powerful language."

    This was the second war at Bull Run and was a battle of larger scale than the first one. The Confederates captured the Union supply depot, and threaten their communications with Washington. 25,000 men counterattacked the Union's left flank and hurt the Union's army in a major way
