Battle of Bull Run
President Lincold ordered General Irvin McDowell to take his army to Virginia to take Manassas a town because it had an importnat railroad that passed Washingtion. General McDowell failed to take the town.

Battle of Shiloh
A Union army commanded by Ulysses Grant had moved to a river in Tennessee but the Confederates had a small army comanded by Albert Sidney Johnston and launched a surprise attach on the small Union army. The Confederates won on the first day but lost on the second day.

The Second Battle of Bull Run
After losing the first battle Lincoln sent General John Pope with his new amry and McClellan's troops to fight the battle again. In late August they arrived but General Lee had already destroyed some of his supplies. Pope was so mad that he sent his full amry to fight and so did Lee but at the end the same thing happened and the Union lost again.

Battle of Gettysburg
On July 1st the confederates sent their forces to gettysburg driving the union back. during the night reinforcements come for both sides. The battle ended on July 3rd and was won by the Union.
