    fort Sumter Battle
    Major Robert Anderson of the United States moved his 85 soldiers to fort sumter. after a few months he reported that they were low on food and supplies. As the fort was getting reinforced at 4:30 in the morning on April 12 the Confederacy attacked the fort. These shootings went on for the next 34 hours. The next morning Major Anderson surrendered. amazingly no soldiers were killed in this battle. The Civil War had begun.

The town of Philippi is not an important town at all. Even though both sides had claimed that they had killed many of the other side’s troops there were actually no deaths in this battle.

    Jefferson Davis was elected as the president of the Confederate States of America on November 6, 1861. He ran unopposed and was elected to serve a term of six years. He had already been serving unofficially for almost a year.Jefferson had been a Senator from Mississippi and had been pro keeping the Union together. Once Mississippi succeeded he became pro Confederacy. Once inaugurated davis sent a peace commission to the Union but Lincoln refused to meet with the Southern ambassadors.
  • Battle of Richmond

    On August 29, 1862 the Confederate army bumped into the Union army on their way to Richmond, Virginia. The two sides started to fight a little. fighting stopped later that day. The next morning the Confederate army attacked the Union army near Zion Church. As the day went on more soldiers joined both sides. The Union retreated and the Confederacy took with them four thousand Union troops and the path to the Union was now open.

    This was a proclamation given by President Lincoln. He granted freedom to all slaves in the Confederacy if the states did not return to the Union by January first 1863. This only applied to slaves that were in Confederate states, the slaves in the Union would be freed only if the war was won by the Union. Even though this did not free slavery because Confederate States did not listen to the United States law, this document was the start of the Union fighting for freedom.

    Lee brought his troops to Pennsylvania to start a battle in the North and to threaten Northern cities. After the first day of the battle the Confederate army had beat the Union. By the second day more soldiers had joined the Union’s army in Gettysburg and were fighting back strongly. More than fifty one thousand soldiers from both sides were either killed, captured, wounded, or missing. The whole battle had lasted three days.
