    Antietam was the bloodiest day in American history. The Confederacy attacked because they nedded Europe and Britain on their side, soldiers and supplies. No one is sure who won since so many soldiers died.

    In the Civil War, the campaign by Union forces to take the strong of the confederate stronghold of Vicksburg, Mississippi, which lay on the east bank of the Mississippi River, halfway between Memphis (North) and New Orleans (South). The capture of Vicksburg divided the Confederacy and proved the military genius of Union General Ulysses S. Grant.

Several months later, president Abraham Lincoln went to Gettysburg to speak about the dedication of the cemetery of the Union war dead. Speaking of a “new birth of freedom” making one of the most memorable speeches in the U.S. history.

    This war took 9 months long and this war had African Americans battling with the Union. Confederacy was defending Richmond. They set cities on fire. The South retreated and went back to Richmond.

    Atlanta didn't want to be a part of the Civil War but, had no choice. At the end, the Confererate troops came and set ground. The Union came and burned communities to the ground. Georgia was devasted horribly.

    Quincy Gilmore had to leadthe campaign to South Carolina. 1100 casualties died, The Union lost many soldeirs and lost this war. It was the Massachusetts 54, ending the Civil War.
