    These nine black men were denied most due process rights when accused of raping two white women. This was a big wake up call for our country.
  • George Stinney case

    In South Carolina, the 14-year-old George Stinney was accused of killing two girls younger than him. He was found guilty and given the death penalty through the method of an electric chair.
  • Brown v. Board

    Schools that separate the students based on their race are “separate but equal” have proven to be unconstitutional.
  • James Meredith enrolls in Ole Miss University

    James Meredith was protected by troops and was allowed into the University of Mississippi
  • Civil Rights Act of 1964

    This act banned discrimination based on race, religion, or gender. It made sure unequal voter registration was no longer happening. It also banned racial segregation in schools and workplaces too.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    rid the U.S. of discriminatory voting prerequisites such as literacy tests to rid the voting boxes of other races than white.

    was known as the "fair housing act". made sure there wasn't housing discrimination.

    this case determined that race was allowed to be apart of the college admission process.

    the university of Michigan's undergrad point policy was ruled unconstitutional.
