Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.
The assassination of the civil rights leader in Memphis, Tennessee, sparked riots and protests across the country. -
The Dallas Bombings
The Dallas bombings terrorized the Black community, but no one was charged because none were killed. The jury asked the group to disband because the plans of the bombings have gone too far. -
First Black Woman to fly into Space
Mae Jemison, who was an engineer and physician, was the first black woman to fly into space. This created higher job opportunities towards African American to reach a place where it was secluded to them beforehand. -
A Full Day of Speeches
Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakhan, gathered up a ton of African American to meet at the White House to hear speeches about racism and issues in the Black Community. This was done to make the Capitol aware of certain problems to be solved. -
First Black President
Barack Obama was the first black president to represent the United States and this showed that even if one is a different race, then one’s dream is still possible. -
BLM Protests
Due to police brutality towards an African American. People started a protest known as “Black Lives Matters”.
