The Battle was in Mississippi. The Union leader was General Grant. The leader for the South was General Beaurard. The Union won the battle. It was important because the Union was now closer to getting controll of the Mississippi River. -

The leader for the North was Captian David Farregut. The Union came in and destroyed most of the city. The Union won the battle. The Union had controll of most of the Mississppi River. -
Antietam
THe battle was at Maryland. THe Union leader was General McClellan and the Confederacy leader was General Lee. The battle was the "Bloodiest Day in American History". The Union won. It was important because the Union was able to stop Lee from moving North. -

The battle took place in Virginia. The Union leader was Hooker. The Confederate leaders were Lee and Jackson. The Confederates won. This battle was important becasue it ruined the Union plans of taking Richmond. -
Battle of Gettysburg
THe battle was in Pennsylvania. The Union leader was Meade. The Confederate leaders were Lee and Picket. The Union won the battle. The battle was important becasue the Confederates now knew they couldn't win the war. -
Siege of Vicksburg
The battle was in Mississippi. The Union leader was Grant. The Confederate leader was Eversone. The Union won the battle. This was a huge turning point in the war. The South was now split in two and had lost control of the Mississippi River. -
The Wilderness Campaign
The Wilderness Campaign was in the area between D.C. and Richmond. Grant moved toward Richmond when Lee retreated. The Union now could move onto Richmond without having to worry. -
Farragut at Mobile Bay
David Farragut the highest ranked Union officer took 18 ships into Mobile Bay, Alabama. The confederate fired torpedoes at the ships. They then Union kept firing back and captured Mobile Bay. The Union now controlled the last Southern port east of the Mississippi River. -
Sherman's March to the Sea
Sherman and his men wanted to break the moral of the South. Sherman destroyed everything in his path. He burned cities and. farmlands. he destroyed anything that could have been useful to the South. He started in Georgia and moved East to the Atlantic coast. On his way to the coast 1000 slaves were freed. -
Fall of Richmond/ Surrender at Appomattox
The Union army maid there way twords Richmond. When Jefferson Davis heard about this he burned all his papers and fleed the city. He destroyed bridges and wepons. Lee never left the city but later surrendered and the final train with supplies was captured and the south had given up.
