    John Brown and 21 of his followers killed 5 slave supporters in Bleeding Kansas
    Many people died in Bleeding Kansas and many people died in the Civil War.

    There were 4 candidates for the election and the South wanted John Breckenridge to win but Abraham Lincoln won and he was a republican
    Lincoln blamed the tension on the South

    Fort Sumter was a union base that was out of supplies and it needed to resupply.
    The North said that the South wasn't part of the United States.
