They Chinese, as early as the 3rd century BCE, made a compass from a magnetic material called lodestone to help them get around.

The Chinese were very advanced for there time when it came to medicine. A tactic they used was the burning of a poisonous smoke after a person that had a disease had died. This was a very early disinfectant. Around that time, a Chinese monk recommended steaming the clothes of the sick. Later in the 10th century, they figured out how to inoculate a person from smallpox. The Chinese doctors took the scabs of ill and made them into powder for people who wanted to be healthy to take into there body.

The Chinese made paper that was probably made of hemp and the bark of a mulberry tree. Also, for 500 years, the Chinese were the only who new how to create paper.

The technique they used to print was called woodblock printing. First he wrote the letters/symbols on paper, then he glued the paper to a wooden block, after that when the glue was dry, the printer carved out the wood around the characters, leaving the characters raised on the wood. He covered that with black ink and pressed that on the paper which was printing.

The clock was much more accurate compared to the sun dials and hour glasses that were used prior to the invention. It consisted of a wheel that made a full rotation after reaching 24 hours. Water dripping caused the wheel to turn. Later, a more advanced version made again by the Chinese but was even more accurate.
