This day the goverment of the Soviet Union started to build a new city called Prypiat, 4,7 kilometres of distance from Chernobyl. This city was built for the workers that built the nuclear factory. -

That year Chernobyl started working. They made nuclear energy for use of the people and other factories -

This day there was an accident. They were doing a test of the reactor but something was wrong and the reactor exploded. A lot of radiation went out and a lot of people were contaminated with radiation. Some of them died. -

Prypiat was evacuated because if the people lived there they will die. -

They finished built a sarcophagus on the reactor . They built it to avoid that the radiation go out. -
The president Leonid Kuchma promised to close Chernobyl in 2000
