Sir Walter Raleigh is given royal charter to set up a colony in the New World. He lands on Roanoke Island in modern-day North Carolina. Eventually, they run out of supplies and rely on the Native Americans to help them survive. The Natives stop helping, and the colonists return home in 1586.
