    Commitees of Correspondence
    The Commitees of Corespondence was founded with the help of Samuel Adams. The committee members were Patriot leaders of the 13 colonies. The members of the committee shared ideas and information about the new Britsh laws and ways to challenge them. The Committe of Corespondence was first used in 1764 in Boston, Massachusetts. The committee is formed when the colonists had to solve a problem about an act the British gave them. It was then disabled when the problem was over.
  • Sugar Act of 1764

    Sugar Act of 1764
    The Sugar Act of 1764 was passed by the Parliament for the British colonies in North America. Prime Minister George Grenville asked Parliament to form the Sugar Act. The Sugar Act seta taxes on molasses and sugar that was imported by the colonists. It was passed on April 5, 1764 for the 13 colonies. Parliament passed the act to help pay for the army that was now in the colonies. It was the first act passed in the colonies to raise money for Britian.

    Stamp Act of 1765
    The idea of the Stamp Act was proposed by Prime Minister George Grenville. It required the colonists to pay for an official stamp when they bought paper items. Colonists who didn't want to pay the tax were sent to jail. It was passed in 1765 for the 13 Colonies in America. The Stamp Act was formed, so Britain could have another way to tax the colonists.
  • Sons of Liberty

    Sons of Liberty
    The Sons of Liberty were colonists from the colonies. Some of the memebers included: Samuel Adams, John Hancock, James Otis, and Paul Revere. The Sons of Liberty were formed to protect the rights of the colonists and they used violence to frighten tax collectors. They were the ones who planned the Boston tea Party. It was formed on November 6, 1765 in Boston. The Sons of Liberty protected the colonists from taxes and protected their rights.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts were passed by the Parliament for the colonists. Charles Townshend proposed the idea. It placed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. It also took power away from the colonial governments. They were started in June 1767 in the colonies. The Townshend Act was to raise money to pay the salaries for the governors and judges. This also allowed the tax collectors to search for smuggled goods.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre involved a group of colonists and eight Redcoats on March 5, 1770 in Boston. What initiated it was a colonist was hit by a Redcoat. More colonists surrounded the soldier and threw snowballs at him. More redcoats arrived and fired in to the crowd of colonists without orders and killed 3 people initially and 2 after they were wounded and 6 were injured. The reason behind the Boston Massacre was that the soldier reacted to an arguement to a colonist and a fight brew up.

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act was introduced on May 10, 1773 that effected the colonies. It involved the British East India Company, Parliament, and the colonies. The Tea Act allowed the British East India Company to sell tea directly to the colonists. The Tea Act was formed to reduce the amount of tea the company had in their London warehouses. The company had eighteen million pounds of unslod tea, so they sold it for a cheap price to the colonies.
  • Boston Tea party

    Boston Tea party
    The Boston Tea Party involved colonists who were disguised as Indians. The Sons of Liberty was the group that had the idea of the Boston Tea Party. The colonists sneaked onto the three tea-filled ships and dumped 340 tea chests into Boston Harbor. This event took place on the night of December 16, 1773 on the three ships in Boston Harbor. The members of the Sons of Lberty asked the governor to have the ships leave, but he didn't let the ships leave without it paying its tax.
  • Intolerable Act

    Intolerable Act
    The Parliament decided to punish the colonists in Boston and Boston itself. The Intolerable Act closed Boston's harbor, Massachusetts' charter was taken away and their was a new Quartering Act. The Quartering required colonists to house the British soldiers. The Intoerable Acts took place in Boston on April 22, 1774. The Intolerable Acts was a punishment for the Boston Tea Party. The British hoped that this would bring order back to the colonies, but it only increased anger.
  • 1st continental congress

    1st continental congress
    The First Continental Congress included representitives from all the colonies except Georgia. It was a meeting which was a gathering of colonial leaders who were deeply troubled about the relationship between Great Britain and its colonies in America. The mmeting was held at Carpenters' Hill in October of 1774. This was a response to the closing of Boston Harbor. The representitives continued to encourge the colonists to continue boycotting the British goods.
