    An intergovernmental organization founded as a result of the Paris Peace Conference that ended the first World War. At first its main goal was to maintain world peace. This meant preventing wars and settling international disputes. The league relied on the Great Powers to enforce its decisions. The Great Powers were often very reluctant to provide the necessities for the the League. The League had ultimately started to fail and many countries left
  • Stalin in Power in Russia

    Stalin's rise had started immediately after Lenin's death. Stalin had many roles in Russian government including military leadership and the Bolshevik Party for the time before the Russian Revolution. He was part of the Russian Civil War and Soviet-Polish War. In 1921 he played a major military role in the Red Army invasion of Georgia. Once Lenin had his first stroke he recommended Stalin's dismissal. Leon Trotsky had stepped up, but Stalin wouldn't back down leading to Trotsky's death.
  • American Stock Market Crashes

    Known as Black Tuesday was the most devastating stock market crash in the history of the US. The beginning of the crash marked the 12-year Great Depression that affected all Western industrialized counties. Most people migrated from the rural areas to the city areas. This caused a grow in the overproduction of agricultural produce creating financial despair. A mini crash of the market had caused investors to sell stocks and expose the shaky foundation.
  • Japan Invades Manchuria

    The Kwantung Army of Japan immediately following the Mukden Incident. They devised a state called Manchukuo and remained until the end of World War 2. Japan was was lead by General Tamon and captured every city of a 730 mile length in a matter of days. General Honjo split his army into two and formed the 39th Mixed Brigade. Japan was victorious.

    Spanish Civil War

    Fought between the Republicans and Nationalists. Often described as a struggle between democracy and fascism most consider it as the leftist revolution and the rightist counter-revolution. The Nationalists became victorious and Franco ruled Spain for 36 years. The war was notable for the passion from the leaders and the troops in battle. In the areas controlled by the Republicans there was a significant amount of killings which caused the battle to become very lethal.
  • Munich Agreement

    A settlement permitting Nazi German's annexation of portions of Czechoslovakia along the country's borders mainly inhabited by German speakers. The purpose was to discuss the future of the Sudetenland in the face of ethnic demands made by Hitler. The agreement was signed by Germany, France, The UK, and Italy. Because of Czechoslovakia being in a fragile state they were not invited to the conference.
