    Bismarack wanted France to have no allies because he feared that they were the biggest threat. The alliance was between Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy.

    In protest for better work conditions, 200,000 workers along with their families marched to the Czar's palace. Soldiers were able to open fire on the protesters and thousands were injured or killed.
  • World War 1 Began

    World War I began in 1914 and it was a war between the Allies and the Central Powers. Practically all the nations were involved in this war. The war was mainly fought in Europe and millions of people died in the war.

    General Schlieffen was the inventor of this plan. The plan was to fight France on the west and then fight Russia in the east. Speed was key if this plan was to be successful

    Trench Warfare Began
    The armies of each side began to dig out trenches across from each other to fight from. Soldiers stayed in the trenches and sometimes had to live in the trenches. The environment changes affected them quite a bit.
  • Eastern Front

    The Eastern Front was a fighting zone on the Russian and Germany border. Along this front, Germany and Autro- Hungarians had battled with the Russians. Many lives here were lost too but the battle was more mobile here.
  • Western Front

    The figthing began on the Western Front in France. This is where the French and other nations fought against Germany. American troops joined in towards the end of the battle. A ton of men had died in this battle.

    After the fighting transitioned more into the water instead of on land it became a problem. As the battle became more intense the Germans announced that they would sink any ship without a warning. This meant that any ship that came near Britian would be immediately sunk.

    After millions of soldiers were wounded or killed the military began to refuse to fight the war, This was shortly after Czar nicholas resigned and the new government said that they would fight the war.

    Female textile workers began a protest and not soon after other workers joined. The protest began in Petrograd and the roits got so bad that they brought the Czar out of power.

    After the United States joined the war, the Allies likelyhood of winning increased. Russia and Germany made a treaty yet the Germans and France were still going at it. Germany declaed itself a republic.

    Bickering between the nations had continued but they finally came to a solution. They had come up with the Treaty of Versailles which ultimately led to the start of World War II. This treaty completely limited Germany.

    Stalin becomes dictator of the Soviet Union
    Stalin becomes the dictator and gains complete control of the Soviet Union. His goal was to turn Russia into a communist nation and turn it into a totalitarian state.

    joseph Stalin launched a campaign that had the goal of elimating all of his possible enemies. He was out to kill anyone who was a threat to him and millions had died. Stalin either executed them or sent them to labor camps.

    Mao Zedong leads the Long March
    Mao Zedong lead a march along with 700,000 other men from the south of China to caves in northwestern China. They were fleeing from Jiangs forces and many died long the way.
