    Manchuria
    Due to the Great Depression, Japanese were in a time of need, so they tried to take Manchuria's resources. Manchuria went to the league of nations for help to withdraw the Japanese. The Japanese refused to leave so they removed themselves from the league of nations and joined the Axis Powers.

  • Germany, Rearmament

    Germany, Rearmament
    The treaty of Versailles was essentially created, by the league of nations, to control Germany's military power. Hitler violated the treaty when he improved the army and navy. The league of nations did nothing to stop him. This led to the league of nation's to lose control over Germany as well as an increase in power for Germany.

  • Ethiopia

    Ethiopia
    Benito Mussolini, the leader of Italy, decided to Invade Ethiopia. He did this because of Ethiopia defeat of Italian forces in the battle of Adowa, and an problem they had in Wal-Wal Oasis. Italy's invasion led to tension in the league of nations.

    Spanish Civil War

    The war was between the Nationalist, led by Francisco Franco, and the republican government of Spain. Other countries became involved in aiding either side. The Republicans surrendered in Madrid on March 1939, and Franco became the new dictator of Spain.

  • Anschluss

    Anschluss
    Hitler declares an anschluss with Austria. Austria did not want to form a union with Germany, so a german faked a plea asking for Germany's help in Austria. This allowed Germany to force their way into Austria.

  • Czechoslovakia

    Czechoslovakia
    Hitler wanted to take over Czechoslovakia but he knew that other countries would interfere and he would lose. He decided to take over Sudetenland which was Czechoslovakia's weapon storage place, leaving Czechoslovakia vulnerable. This allowed Hitler to take over Czechoslovakia which led to Germany's expansion in territory.

  • Invasion of Poland

    Invasion of Poland
    Poland made a treaty with Britain in case of an invasion. Hitler had some German soldiers in Polish a uniform cause chaos in order to start a war. Hitler was then able to take over Poland which led to other countries joining WWII.
