    Japan Invades Eastern China

    Japan was eager to claim the vast resources offered in China and while seeing her major weakness invaded and occupied Manchuria. By the 1930's Japan successfully taken over the whole northern part of the country. Eventually this triggered the Second Sino-Japanese War.

    U.S. Passes Neutrality Acts

    A series of acts that prevented the United States from engaging into many foreign wars. 1st act prevented the US from exporting arms, ammunition, and implements of war to foreign nations at war and requiring arms manufacturers in teh US to apply for an export license. 2nd act prevented US civilians from traveling on belligerent ships, and American Merchant ships were prevented from transporting arms to belligerents even if those arms were produced outside of the US.

    Austria was annexed by the Third Reich. There were several years of pressure from supporters in both countries. Originally Germany wanted to combine Austria with themselves to make the "Greater Germany". Hitler enforced Anschluss by invading Austria.

    Conference held in Munich, during which the leaders of Great Britain, France, and Italy agreed to allow Germany to annex certain areas of Czechoslovakia.

    Kristallnacht

    Referred to as the "Night of Broken Glass". A wave of violence took place throughout Germany. Nazis ran rampant in the street and destoryed many Jewish-owned businesses, homes, and synagogues. Included with all the destruction 30,000 Jewish men were arrested and 91 Jews' lives were claimed. Most of the 30,000 were transfered to Concentration Camps.

    After the signing of the Munich Pact virtually handed Czechoslavakia to Germany. It gave Germany 66 percent of Czech's coal, 70 percent of their steel and iron, 70 percent of it's electrical power. Leaving the rest the Czechoslavakia vulnerable to Germany.

    Shortly after WWII Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union signed the Non-Aggression Pact of 1939 for the next 10 years. Both sides had benefits to this pact. Both Germany and Russia didn't have to worry about eachother. Germany was guaranteed to be unopposed during the invasion of Poland and Russia was guaranteed the safety from Germany and the chance to build upon the Soviet Army.

    IN Berlin, Germany, officials from Italy, Germany, and Japan signed a 10 year Tripartite Pact Pact. A military alliance. This pact sealed cooperations among the three nations or Axis Powers in waging WWII.
