    The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War was a conflict between Great Britain and France for the control of North America. It was also part of a much larger conflict known as the Seven Years War. Great Britain sent a young captain known as George Washington, to deliver a letter to the French calling for their surrender.The French refused and a war began. The British were victorious. As a result Great Britain taxed the colonist for the expenses on the war.

    Proclamation line of 1763

    The Proclamation line of 1763 was a imaginary border that did not let the colonist pass that line and go westward. The British did not want the colonists to lead an uprising against the British. The colonies' borders were protected by British troops to ensure the colonists did not pass. The colonists became very anger because they could not explore new land.

    The Sugar Act

    This act was put into place by the British parliament to pay for their expenses caused by the war. The tax was added on items that had sugar. The colonist were mad because they were not represented by the British parliament.

    The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was a form of British Taxation that lead to the tax on paper documents. This was passed to pay for the British troops that were protecting the Proclamation line. Representatives from the nine colonies were sent to NY to talk about the Stamp act. The colonist were very anger about the act.

    The Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts was part of British Taxation. A tax was placed on home goods. The act was passed to show England still had power over the colonies. Some of the colonist boycotted the products. A group of women started a boycott and made there own products. They became known as the Daughters of Liberty. The colonist responded with the Writs of Assistance. This gave the colonist the right to enter someones home and search it without a search warrant.

    The Boston Massacre

    On March 5, 1770, British troops were accused of shooting into a crowd of people in the colonies. The colonists felt the troops should be charged with murderer, but they were proven to be innocent. The colonist were proven to be the cause of the problem. The colonist were shouting, "Fire if you dare" to the British troops. The colonists were mad at the British for the taxation and targeted the British troops. This caused the colonists to retaliate more.

    The Tea Act

    The Tea Act was a another form of British taxation that was set up to help the East India company. The tax was put on all forms of tea. England gave all control on tea sales to the East India company. The colonists did not agree with the idea of taxing tea. The colonists refused to let the ships dock and unload the tea. In one of the colonies they left the tea on the dock to rot.

    This event was regarding the colonists dressing up like Mohawk Indians and going aboard the tea ship and dumping them into the Boston Haber. This event happend because they did not want to pay the tax on the tea. This event caused the British to do another act on the colonists to show who was in charge. This event made the colonists retaliate and the Sons of Liberty caused more problems for the British empire.

    This act was another form of British taxation that lead the Boston harbor to be closed, British soldiers charged for murder in the colonies would be sent to England for a trial, Colonists would have to feed and house the British troops. England appointed a government for the colonists to follow and no longer govern themselves. The act happend to show England had control over the colonies.The colonists became very angry and retaliate.

    The First Continental Congress

    The group was formed in response to the Intolerable Acts. Representatives from the colonies met to discuss current issues with England.The representatives made a petition for King George lll to state their loyalty to the King and express their feelings about taxation. They also stated that the group would meet again if their demands were not met.The Representatives were George Washington,John Adams,Patrick Henry,John Jay,Samuel Adams, and many others.

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was an engagement between the British and colonists.900 British troop marched towards Concord with the mission to seize all of the colonists revolvers.Eighteen Militia men were standing outside of Concord ready to attack the British.Nobody knows who shot the first bullet but it was later called the shot heard round the world.The battle kicked off the American Revolution because the colonists wanted to be free from British rule.
