End Of The French And Indian War
In the French and Indian war the British came out victorious over the French. This great battle lasted 9 long years. Therefore, it was very costly and the British were in dept so they were in need of money. To get this money they taxed the colonists with a few cents here and there.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763
The proclamation of 1763 made many colonists very angry. The colonists kept moving west of the Appellation Mountains, and King George III had to keep sending soldiers over to protect them. He got very tired of doing this, so he passed a law called the proclamation that prevented any colonist to move west of these mountains, and the colonists that had already moved had to come back.

The stamp act was a law passed that required special tax stamps for things like legal documents, newspapers, dice, cards etc. The colonists said that it was unfair for parliament (the British legislature) to tax them since they have no representative in parliament. Quartering Act
This law outraged the colonists. It forced them to house british soldiers that were stationed in the colonies. They did not like this because there was a lot of fued between them going on at the time. They said it was a violation of thier rights and I agree. This law began even more voilence.

    Townshend Act
This is another law that violated the colonist's rights. It taxed imports like glass, paper and tea. This allowed the British officers to use the writs of assistance, which meant they can search and colonist's ship without any reason at all. Soon after merchants signed non-importation agreements, and even more boycotts were formed.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
The Boston massacre was a very sad day in American history. Five colonists were shot killed during this dreadful event. Even though there weren’t any British soldiers that were killed, there are many different beliefs on whose fault it actually was. Many colonists were crowding around the 7 soldiers while throwing things like blocks of ice and sticks at the overpowered soldiers. They eventually panicked and fired off their muskets, resulting in the five deaths known as the Boston massacre.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
The tea act was in 1773. This allowed the colonists to import British tea directly from India. Tea still had tax but it was much cheaper. THhey also saw it as a trick to accept being taxed without representation. Later on the colonists found a way to tourment the British with an event known as the Boston Tea Party. On 12/16/1773 the sons of liberty dressed as Mohawk indians, snuck onto British East Indian co-ships and dumped thier tea into the Boston Harbor.

  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts
The intolerable acts were a punishment for the colonists in Massachesetts because they participated in the Boston tea party. They were not allowed to hold any town meetings. The worse of the three punishments was the Boston harbor getting closed. They were not allowers to open it back up until ALL of the tea was paid for. They also got a new quartering act. The colonists were outraged, they thought these punishments were way to harsh. Later other colonies supported Massachusetts.

  • Paul Revere's ride

    Paul Revere's ride
Paul Revere was a miraculous man. He set out to warn the minutemen (the militia of the colonists) that the British were coming to attack by sea. He knew this because the were two lanterns lit in the lighthouse. Even though he is the most famous of the three people he was not the first person to start their ride, he was the second. The reason he was so famous was because our country needed a hero to remember that even though we are in a civil war, we were just working together a little while ago.
