  • The end of the French and Indian war

    The end of the French and Indian war
    Britain and France fought in the French and Indian war. They fought to gain control of north america. The treaty of paris in 1763 ended the war. Britain won the war and france lost all of its colonies. Britain had raised taxes on the American colonies to pay for the French and Indian war, because of that the American colonists believed that the laws violatethe Magna Carta.
  • Suger Act (1764)

    Suger Act (1764)
    This Act was passed so the British could make more money off the colonists to pay for more security and pay the debt off from the French and Indian war. The British also passed this Act so the colonists would only be able to sell their goods to the British. This made the colonists upset because they wanted to sell their goods to other places so they could make more money.
  • Stamp Act (1765)

    Stamp Act (1765)
    The stamp act was passed due to the needs of Britians founding from the French and Indian war. The british thought of many ways of taxing colonists to found for the war but the only taxation process that worked for a little while was the stamp act. Everthing worked out until colonists thought that the british were violating the right 'no taxation without representation' in the 1689 english bill of rights. That caused riots to occur, violent protests, and mob attacks on stamp disributors' houses.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    Named after Charles Townshend. They were passed by the English parliament shortly after the repeal of the Stamp act. They were desighned to collect revenue from the colonists, by putting costums on imports such as glass, lead, paints, and tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    British soldiers killed 5 colonists when they were attacked by an angry mob of anti-taxers in Boston. The soldiers that killed them were tried for murder but were found 'not guilty'. Now many colonists believe that the British will kill to enforce unfair tax laws.

    Tea Act (1773)
    The british started the Tea Act so that they can tax the colonists to pay for the aftermath of the French and Indian war. To get the colonists to pay the taxes for the tea they made the price of the tea way cheaper but made them pay the duty tax on the imported tea. This caused the colonists to be furious and this all lead up to the Boston Tea Party.

    Boston Tea Party
    In Massachusetts, members of the "Sons of Liberty" dumped a huge shipment of British tea into the Boston Harbor to protest against the Tea Act. King George III delares the "the colonies are rebelling" and sends more troops to the colonies to enforce the law better.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    There were quite a few acts written in the Intolerable acts, the first bill was the Boston Port Bill it made the people of Boston pay for the tea they threw in the harbor. This act was to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party. Some of the other acts that were written are Quartering Act, and the Quebec Act.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The British troops leave to go find weapons that are being stored by the Sons of Liberty, also to go arrest John Hancock and Samuel Adams. The colonists attack the British soldiers as they march from Boston to Concord and then back to Boston. The British suffer 273 casualties and the Americans 90.

    Declatory Act
    The Declatory Act was a repeal of the Stamp Act. This acted stated that British taxing was the same in the Americas as in Great Britian.
    "In all cases whats so ever" it focused on the question of parliament s relationship to a growing empire.
