    The First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress
    Meetings were held at Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The men involved discussed the current crisis with England and expressed their outrage with the Intolerable Acts. They later on sent a petition to the King saying they were still loyal to him and England. They also stated their belief that they should not get taxed by the Parliament because they have no say in government.

    French and Indian War

    The British wanted cheap farmland. They found the Ohio River Valley and wanted it, but the French was already living there. British Governor Dinwiddie demanded the French to leave. This started a war that lasted 7 years!
  • The Proclamation Line of 1763

    The Proclamation Line of 1763
    Following the French and Indian War, the British Parliament established a border aligned with the Application Mountains that separates from the unhappy natives in the west. The British were in debt and they didn't want the debt to raise, so the colonists couldn't cross the border. This Proclamation angered the colonists because they fought in war to win that land, and now they cant go across the line.

    The Sugar Act
    This was a tax the colonists had to pay, made by the parliament. The reason for this was so England could pay off its debt from the French and Indian war. The colonists were very mad about this, it was not so much because they had to pay 3 cents on foreign refined sugar, but because they didn't have a say in government so they couldn't do anything about this.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    After the French and Indian war, England started to send troops to help the colonists by protecting the territory they had just won. The British Parliament passed the Stamp Act which required a stamp that was purchased from the British government to be put on all important documents. The stamp showed that the tax was paid on the paper item.This angered the colonists which led to them rebelling and doing things such as, insulting the king, and killing tax collectors.

    Townshend Acts

    This was a tax placed on items imported to the colonies, from England. This included paper, glass, paint, and tea. The colonists couldn't do anything about it because they didn't have any representation in the Parliament which is what brought upon these taxes.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    A group of colonists started to insult and threaten 8 British soldiers in the streets of Boston. Some colonists started to throw snowballs, sticks and stones. Later it was found out that the colonists screamed "fire" towards the soldiers in a daring way. The soldiers thought it was the commander, so they started to shoot and war broke out. % colonists lay dead as well as Crispis Attucks, an African/Native. On the other hand no soldiers were killed.

    Committees of Correspondence
    This was an organization that met to share information about each new issue faced in the developing crisis with England. It formed bonds between the 13 colonies to later help them in the American Revolution.
  • The Tea Act / Boston Tea Party

    The Tea Act / Boston Tea Party
    The East India Company has 18 million pounds of unsold tea, so the Parliament passed a law that forced the colonists to purchase this tea and no other tea. As you probably guessed the colonists did not like this. They got very angry and as a result on the night of December !6, 1773 about 60 colonists boarded the ships with tea, dressed as Indians. They dumped 342 crates of tea into the Boston Harbor. Di-spite their frustration they did not damage the ships, and even swept the mess afterwards.

    After the Boston Tea Party the British were furious so the Parliament made some new laws. These laws included closing the harbor until all of the destroyed tea was paid for. Many stores closed because of the lack of products, and many lost jobs. Then there was a trial in England and they favor the British. The colonists even had to house and feed the soldiers. Also the colonists could not hold meetings.
  • The Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord
    At dawn about 60 militia men gathered to fight against around 1,000 British soldiers. The soldiers won, killing 8 militia men. After this the soldiers went to Concord to raid the war stash, but most weapons were already hid or had been destroyed. The next battle started, the militia men won this time and shot at the soldiers 18 miles back to Boston. They ended up killing about 250 soldiers.
