    Proclamation of 1763
    The Sugar Act was designed to make England more money after the French and Indian War. This was to stop colonists from venturing west of the Appalachians to regulate trade. The colonists hated the idea that they wouldn't get the land they fought for, and started thinking about revolution.

    The Sugar Act was an act passed by the British Parliament to make importers purchase their sugar from British instead of other sources such as Spain. This coupled with taxes from the French and Indian war outraged colonists and many boycotted English products.

    An act that took even more money from the colonies. This bill forced all printed materials to be made on stamped paper produced in London with an English stamp which was taxed. There was negative feedback and rioting started in some places.

    On this date, England passed a Quartering Act for colonists in America. The act allowed British soldiers to live in colonists' homes if there wasn't enough space in the barracks. Colonists despised the idea of soldiers in their housing, and some colonies refused to pay and house for the soldiers' needs.

    The Townshend Acts imposed taxes on many things such as glass, paint, and tea brought into the colonies. Colonists hated the idea and harassing tax collectors and people who didn't follow the boycott became common.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    After much rioting and unrest, a squad of soldiers opened fire into a crowd of colonists. 3 people were killed there, and 2 died later of injuries. This cause many people to become enraged and a hatred of soldiers inhabiting the colonies began to rise.

    After the English imposed taxes on tea with the tea act, the colonists started hating them. On this night, the Sons of Liberty, a small group of revolutionaries, boarded ships on the harbour and tossed 342 crates of tea overboard. This led to the Intolerable Acts.

    After the Boston Tea Party, many new acts were passed by the British Parliament in 1774. These acts were made to punish the colonists in Massachusetts for defying England. Many members of Massachusetts that were affected by these acts were infuriated by this, which led to the First Continental Congress.

    A meeting of a few chosen delegates from 12 colonies. This meeting gathered the colonies together to think about independance from England.
