Causes of American Revolution

  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was located in northern America. It was caused by a conflict between Great Britain and France. They both had wanted more land to expand their country. The war had ended because of the Treaty of Paris and Britain ended up with more territory than the French.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The stamp act was an act that put tax on all different types of documents. For example, letters, newspapers, wills, and more. After you pay the tax, they place a stamp on the document to show that they had paid it off. The colonists did not like this act becuase it affected their daily lives and their services.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    Britiain taxed a lot of the colonial goods and imports. They also put officers at colonial ports. This caused colonies to boycott and protest imported goods.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    In front of the Boston ustoms House, a group gathered and were teasing and taunting the soldiers standing outside. After the soldiers had enough, shots were fired and colonists were killed.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    It was made because the East India Company was almost bankrupt. After the act, the company was aloud to sell tea to the colonies without taxes but the the tea sellers had to pay taxes.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The "Boston Rebels" were mad about the taxes that they had to pay to sell tea. So they dresed up as native americans and went out on ships and dumped over 18,000 pounds of tea into the Boston harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    They are laws passed after the Boston tea party. These laws were made by King George to punish Massachusets for what they did with the tea.
  • Fisrt continental congress

    Fisrt continental congress
    A meeting of twelve to thirteen representitves from each colony at Carpentars Hall.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    General Gage had ordered his troops to go to Concord, Massachusetts and take the colonies weapons. When they arrived in Lexington minutemen were waiting. One shot was fired and the firts battle in Lexington occured. When they arrived in Concord even more minutemen were waiting and the secnd battle of the day had begun.
  • Second continental congress

    Second continental congress
    The second place where all the representatives from each colony. It was similar to the first meeting they had.
  • Publishing of Common Sense

    Publishing of Common Sense
    Thomas Paine's pamphlet that went against King George and the monarchy. He wrote about independence of the American Colonies and how it would make a better society. He belived in equality for all. After Common Sense was published it became very popular.
