  • War measures act was created

    Robert Borden passes the war measures act in august 1914 allowed the goveronment with sweeping powers for the war effort. its first use was interning Ukrainian and German background Canadians as the goveronment feared they came from enemy countries, restricting all of their rights and interning them into camps.

    Canada Officially Declares war against the Triple Entente allied with France, Great Britain, United States of America. Canada had to join because britain at this time still controlled Canada's foreign policy.

  • Battle of Vimy Ridge

    Battle of Vimy Ridge was the operation run by Canada and its military. VImy ridge proved canada's significance and ability to fight as they took over in mere 3 days. This was the first time Strategy was used in war.

    Unions of workers strike on massive unemployment inflatation because worker rights were not properly given,
  • Treaty of Versailles

    Treaty of Versailles was officially created during the end of world war 1. This treaty restricted germany from ever expanding its territory, empire and army.
  • Indian Act Established

    Indians were taken away their rigths and took away they land, moved them into reserves where younger kids had to go to rural school and were abused and were taught to forget their native culture
  • Women Won Federal Right to vote

    Dominion elections act gave women the right to vote, yet they were still not given the rights that men had, They continue to fight for rights during 1920's but widely discriminated when it came to the workplace.
  • Chinese Immigration Act

    The chinese immigration act was established in 1887 making new chinese immigrants to pay head tax.In 1923 The act was brought up again prohibiting any chinese to immigrate.

    The RCAF was established for Canada's primitive defense and was established in canada for the safety of its traning.

    During this time, Wheat prices dropped dramatically. Soon after many wanted to sell their wheat but only few bought. this resulted in millions of dollars lost in profit. 5 days later on tuesday another crash occured leaving many bankrupt.

    Canada feared of the axis powers and its people. This resulted into interning japanese canadians taking their rights and freedoms away thinking if they were of enemy espianoge.

    Battle of atlantic was coined by Winston Churchill of the allies to secure and escort ships over the atlantic ocean. Their objective was to protect and blockade axis powers from canada to eastern europe.

    After world war 2, Canada was invited to join the United nations, a group to prevent world atrocities and things that will create another world war.
  • NORAD was formed

    NORAD, was formed by the united states to prepare a defensive line against the soviet union if they were ever to use hostile attacks against canada and the US. Thus was called the North American Air Defense Command.

    Creation of the suburbs in Canada followed up by the baby boom that occured, Citizens of canada needed homes and a good environment to raise their kids.
