    Branch plants were a phenomenom of canada and the united states, where american companys would build factorys and branches of their companys in canada to skip all the taxes and tariffs of transporting goods over the border.

    The assembly line was created long before ford started using it, he however was the first to use it on the scale that he did, creating cars that were cheap and still well made, so that all middle class famlies could afford one.

    Prohibition

    Prohibition was the ban on sale or consumption of alchohol. It was put into place to help stop men from bringing their paychecks straight to a bar, instead of back to their families. prohibition was not a sucsess however, with speak easies and bootleggers, people were still drinking, but if they got caught they were arrested, it was reapealed by 1920 in every province but newfoundland which reapealed prohibition in 1924

    Spanish Flu

    Spanish flu was a strand of unusually deadly influenza virus, the virus spread to over 500 million people across the world including remote pacific islands and the artic, it killed 50-100 million people worldwide, 3-5 percent of the worlds population at the time making it one of the worlds worst deadliest disasters in history.

    The league of indians was created to help native peoples who had been not given the same rights and privliges that anyother citizen who fought in the war, and get native soldiers the same rights as anyother soldier.
  • William lyon mackenzie king

    William lyon mackenzie king was first voted into office in 1921, he then lost the seat in 1925, but got it back during the depression in 1935 using the slogan "king or chaos".
    King did a lot for canadian autonomoy including, having the canadian government declare war a week after britan declared war on germany, showing that canada was starting to make its own political decisions and becoming its own country.

    On january 23rd, dr. fredrick banting and charles best first injected insulin into a diabetec 14 year old boy who was dying from diabetes, when they injected him with the insulin the boy immediately gained strength, they had created the cure for diabetes.
  • Winnipeg General Strike

    The winnipeg general strike was caused by lack of pay and safety for people in their jobs, the strikers gathered around the main streets of winnipeg to protest and bargain for better working conditions and better pay
  • Chinese Exclusion Act

    The chinese exclusion act was created to stop virtually all immigrants of asian descent or heritege.

    The Royal canadian airforce was created as the successor to the canadian airforce, which served in world war 1, the rcaf was used mostly for civilion purposes, such as forestry, surveying and anti-smuggling patrols. It recived budget cuts in the early 1930's but was rebuilt in the late 30s and during world war 2 expanded into the 4th largest allied airforce.

    The persons case was a constitutional case that decided women were eligable to sit on the canadian senate. the case was put forward by the famous five.
  • Black Tuesday

    Black tuesday was the day the stock market crashed, where almost every stock in the market fell in price, when people rushed to sell all their stocks to recover at least a bit of their money, the stocks fell even further, causing everything to become almost worthless.
  • 5 Cent Speech

    The Five Cent Speech was a speech said by Mackenzie King in 1930 to avoid the Great Depression. The Five Cent Speech said that he wouldn't give any money who lost their jobs unless that province had a Liberal government. Due to this speech, this lead Mackenzie King out of the election and lead to a new Conservative Prime Minister R.B. Bennett.
