    Igor Gouzenko was a Russian spy assigned to the Sviet Embassy in Ottawa and learned that Soviet intelligence operated several spy networks in Canada and other Western Countries. He defected to Canada and told Canada of the Soviet spies. He and his family went into protection and he wore a bag over his head in public to protect his identity.

    It was the first major international crisis of the Cold War. Germany and Russia blocked off the Western Allies railways, roads and canals leading toi the parts of Berlin the Allies controlled. Airlifts were used to get supplies into Berlin and it proved to work better then roads and railways anyway It was an embarrassment for the Soviets.
