The United Nations (UN) is an international organization that are facilitating cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and achievement of world peace. The UN was founded in 1945 after World War II to replace the League of Nations. -
World War II ends
Canada Helped in many ways in WWII.Canada's involvement in the naval battles fought in the Atlantic Ocean with Britain and against Germany. On August 14, 1945 Japan surrendered, with the surrender documents finally signed aboard the deck of the American battleship USS Missouri on September 2, 1945, ending the war. -

Berlin Wall is built
The Berlin Wall was a barrier constructed by the German Democratic Republic starting on 13 August 1961, that completely cut off West Berlin from surrounding East Germany and from East Berlin. The Wall served to prevent the massive emigration and defection that marked Germany and the communist Eastern Bloc during the post-World War II period. -

The Berlin wall represented the imprisonment of the people of East Germany. when it was built it was done to stop an ever increasing number of people leaving the communist side of occupied Germany. The moment the East German government lost the power to enforce the existence of the wall. It then started to break up family's and friendships. -

Lester Bowles "Mike" Pearson, was a Canadian professor, historian, civil servant, statesman, diplomat, and politician, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1957 for organizing the United Nations Emergency Force to resolve the Suez Canal Crisis.
