    The Trojan War was a conflict between greeks and people of troy and this war lasted for 10 years. It all started when Prince Paris abducted Helen the wife of Menelaus. Menelaus asked for her back and they refused, so he sent an army with some his best men like Ajax to fight for her back. The trojan war legend comes from many different places iliad deals with majoritity of the myth

    Cyclops

    Cyclops
    Cyclops were giant one-eyed beast. Odysseus becomes stranded on the Island of the Cyclopes. They find a cave in which the cyclops stayed and he is now trapped. They refuse to treat him well and eat 6 of his men. Odysseus uses his intelligence, tricks the cyclops an uses a strong liquor on them. Analysis: Cyclops corresponds to an adventure where Odysseus is trapped in their cave and has to find a way out without being killed

    Lotus Eaters
    Lotus eaters are men that eat fruit of the lotus, fall into a deep sleep and forget who they are. Odysseus tells his men not to worry have faith that they will make it back to their homeland. On their way back they discover a new mysterious Island. On the Island they are greeted by "the lotus-eaters" in which they offer them fruit those who ate the lotus fall into a deep sleep, forget who they are and want to stay on the island forever.

    Aeolus-Bag of wind

    Aeolus-Bag of wind
    Aeolus the god of wind gives Odysseus a bag of wind and stirs it using magical powers to guide him back home. In matter of days they are in the area of their homeland, but his shipmates think that the bag is filled with some kind of fortune and tears it open. The wind then creates a storm which brings them back to Aeolia. Aeolus refuses to help them this time and now says the gods hate him and want to kill him.

    Analysis: We learn that odysseus crew is selfish and is not loyal to their leader, and odysseus is very intelligent using his quick thinking to get out of difficult situations. The theme is to succumb to temptation as in book 9 with circe.

    Analysis: Another example of the theme in the odyssey. Odysseus and his men succumbing to temptation as they eat the food and drink and evil spell on a island they do not know about and a person who is very strange. This shows us that odysseus men do not care and are ruthless.

    Circe
    Odysseus arrives at a mysterious island, Circes another vile goddess that wants to prevent Odysseus from going home. Although she is very pretty she is an very evil witch. Odysseus goes in her house and sees some strange things, animals that hypnotized on her spell and not attacking. She introduces herself to Odysseus and his men and offers them food and drink. Odysseus refuses to eat or drink but him men do not as they do not know there is a spell in the drink that turns them into pigs.

    Analysis: We learn that Odysseus and his crew are very brave and they follow directions as they listen to Circe and avoid the Sirens successfully. The sirens symbolize temptation and with Odysseus escaping them he is very strong and brave

    Scylla and Charybdis
    Scylla and Charybdis were two immortal creatures that wondered the sea waiting for ships to pass by to give them doom. When Odysseus and his shipmates passed by they were in for a fight, Odysseus held on tight as he steered 6 of his men towards the Scylla as instructed by Circe to sacrifice his men to survive these attacks by these 2 monsters and to live another day.

    Analysis: We learned that odysseus succumbed to creatures bigger than him which shows cowardness. This shows that he is unloyal, selfish, and will doing anything to keep himself alive

    Sirens

    Sirens
    Sirens were very dangerous creatures. Odysseus encounters the sirens on his way back to is homeland. He is warned by circe that they sit and wait for ships to come. They sing the most beautiful songs that lured nearby sailors to their death. She warns him to keep the men's ears waxed so no man is tempted follow the sounds. When they are in the sirens territory Odysseus does as Circe says as he ties himself to the boat, and avoids the sirens.

    Analysis: This is another example of Odysseus's crew being selfish and ruthless, in this myth Odysseus orders them not to eat the cattle, and they end up eating it which brings up the theme of this myth selfish and unloyal.

    Helios's Cattle
    Helios's Daughter tells him that Odysseus's men have killed his cattle. While feasting on the Cattle strange things started to happen Odysseus's men when eating it, but they still ate it for the 6 days they were there before sailing away. In return Helios gives orders to the gods to punish the men and says if they do not comply Helios the god of the sun will take the sun to the Underworld and awake the dead.
