  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Tax was placed on sugar and other goods from Britain because British needed money because of loss of money during war.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act taxed anything on paper/printed goods made in the colonies. The colonists were outraged.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    Colonists had to give supplies and shelter to British soldiers.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory Act was passed to partner the Stamp Act. The Declaratory Act that the British could pass any laws they wanted.
  • Repealing of the Stamp Act

    Repealing of the Stamp Act
    The British reluctantly repealed the Stamp Act in 1766 after constant protest from the colonists.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    Placed tax on glass and paint, and during this period British were allowed to search for smuggling without evidence or permission.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Colonists came after British soldiers with clubs and dared them to fire. The redcoats eventually fought back and ended up killing 5 people.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act gave tea merchants a huge advantage in the market. Colonists were unhappy with this.
    Bucket loads of tea were dumped in the Boston harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The British passed 4 new laws as punishment for the Boston tea party. They closed Boston harbor until colonists paid for the lost money when the tea was dumped in the harbor
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the very beginning of the Revolutionary War. This was when the famous “shot heard around the world” was fired.
