Brandon's Road To Revolution

  • French And Indian War

    French And Indian War
The war happened because the British wanted more land, and control of North American trade routes. The war caused britain to lose a lot of money. The impact it had on colonial america is: they get blamed for the war, they must repay the war debt through various amounts of taxes. They are also now enforcing colonial laws. This upset the colonies quite a bit.
  • Townshed Acts

    Townshed Acts
This was the act that repealed the stamp act. It was created as a tax on printed goods, such as, glass, paint, tea, and others. Of course the colonists did not feel this was fair and rebelled against it. I feel this has significance because this is the act right before the boston massacre, so this probably upset colonists to that point.
  • Troops Sent In Boston As Military Police

Troops Sent In Boston As Military Police
The colonists are now starting to get out of hand. In an immediate reaction king george 3rd sent his military troops to boston to act as police. This made colonists feel like they had to be watched and supervised. This caused a lot of colonists to start uprisings or fights.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
In reaction to the troops showing up the colonists were outraged, so a group of them either spoke up with words or fists/weapons. The british then reacted with hostility and shot at them. John Adams used this event as a way to convice more people to join there cause.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
This act was a combination of 5 laws: the quartering act, boston port bill, admiistration of justice act, massachusetts government act, quebec act. These acts (all togethor) made it so people or buildings housed troops and supplies, the port was closed until damages wer repaid, the british had control of Massachusetts government, and there was a boundary made between the western colonies. This made the other colonies strive a little bit more towards independance.
  • Lexington And Concord

    Lexington And Concord
The british are having a rough time in Boston, plus there were militias forming all over. So the king reacts immediatly, he sends troops over to try and capture the leaders and ammunition supply. Unfortunatly for them, the colonists had a spy network. 150 colonists were there to react. 273 british were wounded or killed. This had a huge effect on the colonists making them realize they could have control.
  • Declaration Of Independance

    Declaration Of Independance
The colonists finally agree to independance. They decide to express their mind on a document known as the declaration of independance. After they write it, they send it to the king hoping he will be understanding. Of course he was not, so this event is what initially started the war.
