  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    On March 22nd 1765 the Stamp Act was passed by the British. This made anything made of paper have a tax on it. This tax was only put on the colonists of the new world. The colonists were outraged and didn't like this act at all. The British new this tax would outrage the colonists but all they wanted was more money. The colonists were mad and started destroying the British Men's houses. The British wanted the colonists to stop so they repealed the stamp http://www.timetoast.com
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Before March 5th 1770 the colonists were attacking men of the British parliament. In the Boston the King ordered men of the British army to go their for security. The colonists weren't happy about this. On March 5th he colonists grabbed snowballs and threw them at the British soldiers. The soldiers reacted to this and shot and killed 5 colonists. The colonist saw it as the British soldiers shot at innocent people so the colonists got even more mad at the British.
  • Tea Tax

    On April 27th 1773 the British passed an act that put a tax on tea. The colonists weren't happy and didn't want to pay extra for tea. The colonists would buy the tea but it was never sold in the colonies. The British wanted more money so they made this tax and they knew that the colonists would be mad. So the day before the colonists had to pay the tax on the tea they threw it all in the Boston Harbor.
  • Lexington\Concord

    Lexington\Concord
    The battles of Lexington and Concord were the first official battles of the American Revolution. A regiment of British troops were marching to Lexington when a group of Colonist got in their way. The colonists new they were way outnumbered and had no experience in fighting so they retreated. As the colonists were retreating some one fired a shot. The British started firing back and then battle started. After the battle the colonists didn't want anything to do with the British.
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    The battle of Bunker Hill happened early on in the American Revolution. The colonists were on the top of the hill and had great placement on the British forces. The British were the bigger and more experienced group, and thought they could win easily. They were wrong because the colonists took out a lot of the British fighters and the colonist looked to be winning at one point. The battle went on and the colonists ran out of ammunition and had to retreat.
  • Common Sense

    Common Sense
    On January 10th Thomas Paine published a pamphlet called Common Sense. This pamphlet was the first idea to consider a revolution from the British. At the time the colonists thought of themselves as Britons. This pamphlet made them realize that maybe they weren't. This pamphlet was made because the British were not treating the colonists very well. It started the idea that the colonists could govern themselves. This pamphlet is thought to of started the thought of a revolution.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    Thomas Jefferson a not well know person was asked to write the Declaration of Independence for America. He wrote the first daft and a lot was changed except the start of the Declaration. This was the reaction from the Revolutionary was between the Americans and the British. All the delegates signed the Declaration and the biggest signature was of John Hancock. He said, "I want the king to see my name without using his spectacles."
  • Continental Army wintering at Valley Forge

    Continental Army wintering at Valley Forge
    On December 19th 1777 the Continental Army under the command of George Washington made it to Valley Forge. It had been a horrible winter and the army was suffering. The British were on the other side of the river partying and having fun. They thought the patriots would never attack. Early Christmas morning the patriots crossed the river and ambushed the British. The British weren't ready and they faced major casualties.
  • Battle at Trenton\Princeton

    Battle at Trenton\Princeton
    On Christmas night in 1776 George Washington crossed the Delaware river with his army to fight the British. They surprised the British and defeated them in Trenton. They then battled in Princeton and won again and got the British to surrender. These battles made the army more confident as expected, and the British knew this was trouble. These victories also helped the colonists regain control of a lot of New Jersey.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    On September 19th 1777 the British General John Burgoyne. This seemed to be a costly victory for the British to beat the Americans. On October 7th Burgoyne again attacked the Americans but this time he was defeated. This seemed to be the break the Americans needed, and it led to the surrender of Burgoyne and his troops. This victory for the Americans convinced the French to help them in the war against the British.
  • War in the south\Charleston

    War in the south\Charleston
    By 1780 the British saw they were loosing the colonies. The British were thinking of a plan and they came up with one. The British thought that if they could defeat the Americans in Charleston they could capture the whole south. The British sent ships to Charleston and they defeated the Americans. Their plan worked and the British soon captured the south. They were hooping that the fatal of the south would also bring the rest of the colonies, but they were wrong.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    Before September 28th 1781 the American and French troops were circling Lord Charles Cornwallis and his British troops in Yorktown. On September 28th the circling was finished. The British had 9,000 troops and the Americans had 17,000. The British were badly outnumbered and didn't have anywhere to go. The Americans and the French defeated the British. Later Cornwallis surrendered to the Americans. This led to the singing of the Treaty of Paris.
