The college began as German Theological School founded by the Presbytery of Newark in 1868.

The college was originally in Newark as a First German Presbyterian Church but then moved in 1872 as the Bloomfield Academy on Franklin Street.

Then in 1909 New Jersey gave them permission to grant them the bachelor of Arts degree.

Then in 1913 the college changed their name to Bloomfield Theological Seminary.

Bloomfield College soccer team had a MSOC season opener today against NYITBears on the road. The season opener for the men's soccer team did not go to plan. On the road the team lost 3-1 on the first game.
