  • 2013

    In 2013 a innocent black man named Trayvon was killed by a police officer named George Zimmerman. Trayvon posed no threat yet he was still killed. This is also when the term BLM was made.
  • 2014

    More and more people starting to see how more innocent black people die due to racism so the people took action. Protests and riots happened due to this.
  • 2015

    Even more innocent black people died this year which resulted in even more people protesting. They also killed 21 transgender people and 13 of them were black.
  • 2016

    During this year there were more protests against police brutality. In early July over 100 protests occurred over America. Even famous American sports stars spoke out.
  • 2017

    The BLM put up their first art exhibition. It featured work pf over 30 Black artists and creators. In August, Black Lives Matter campaigners were among counter-protestors at a white supremacist 'Unite The Right' rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
  • 2018

    This year hit the mark of 5 years of the BLM movement. BLM continued to highlight the deaths of black people dying to police.
  • 2019

    In February the rapper 21 Savage was arrested and detained by the U.S immigration agency. In May teenager Isaiah Lewis was shot by police and killed. Days later another protest was held.
  • 2020

    George Floyd was killed because the police didn't listen and loosen the pressure the officer was putting on Floyd's neck. BLM organised a protest all around the world. In London over 1500 people held a BLM protest.
